I found some more information regarding how to tumble stained glass pieces (for mosaic projects) to just take off the sharp edges but keep their shine. Here's a couple of things I found along with the website addresses. All the "rock" tumbling websites have you go through all the grit stages, whereas, the mosaic sites had different procedures. Thought some of you might find it interesting, even though you may not work with glass.
http://www.lapidaryclubofohio.org/definitions.htm "Stained glass shards used for mosaic glass are also tumbled. No abrasive is used to avoid clouding the glass, only water as a lubricant to remove the sharp edges so that the glass may be handled safely. As little as 8 hours tumbling may be sufficient for tumbled glass."
http://www.mosaic-tile-design.com/stained-glass-tiles.html (Check out this web page....this person uses an electric ice cream maker as a tumbler!)........................"What I did finally buy on eBay was an old ice cream maker for $7. I had to cut the paddles off the center churn part of the ice cream maker but leave the center post intact to use it to 'tumble' my tiles in a little soapy water. It holds more tiles at once than most of the rock tumblers I saw for sale." "After an hour or two of tumbling, the cut edges are not as sharp and you will see grainy debris in the bottom of the tumbler after doing a few batches."
I will have to try the soapy water with my "kiddy" tumbler and see what happens. Maybe I can get Earthdog to take some before and after photos.

Interesting! I tumble my glass with my rock rough. I just don't go through all the stages with my glass.
