One of the readers of my web site has a lamp that she believes is made with brightly colored obsidian. My guess is that it is slag glass. Does anybody here know of obsidian that is this bright? There is more information and photos available at the following link. www.pebblepup.com/obsidian-lamp/#more-249Thank you, John

Im certainly no expert but I have lots of varieties of obsidian.....and I have slag glass as well, and the slag would be my first guess for sure.

If that was obsidian, we would not be able to either afford it, or get near the source. I have looked at a lot of obsidian photographs, and none is this bright, and clear. If not glass slag, it is most likely glass made for the purpose. Woody

My guess would be glass. There are some pretty crazy types of Obsidian out there but nothing like that ! Great looking lamp tho.

Thanks for confirming that it is most likely glass. I have many varieties of obsidian but nothing that looks anything like this.
