Wow Marie those are some sweeeeeeet lookin' lakers. I can't imagine how many there are if that rock pile goes on for a mile. You need to get working girl. lol It is great to meet people from this board and I'm glad your camera worked long enough to at least get a few pics.

Thanks everyone! We cut a few smaller slabs of some of the stuff we found with Steve tonight, and will be posting pics tomorrow in slabs/saws. It was such great fun to meet Steve, and he just taught me so much about what I was looking for, and looking at!! He took some bigger rocks home, he has a bigger saw to cut with, and once he has a chance to get them cut, he will post pics of them. This was truley a rewarding experience for me!! Marie

I'm afraid if I had a back yard like that I'd never get anything done but hunt rock. I guess that wouldn't be all bad............Nice score on the lakers! Garry

Garry....you do have a backyard like that! Just look under the trees LOL
Marie: On second look at the rock pile, it looks as though it has been screened since all the rock is of a uniform size. A god bet is that who ever piled that rock screed out the larger ones, and dumped them. You need to find THAT pile! It is common for gravel companies to screen out the larger material if it is a small portion of the whole. This is cheaper than crushing it. Woody

Marie - I think it is time to schedule an official RTH party in your 'backyard'. Is there plenty of room for camping?

I have thought that many times Toad. It would be kinda cool to have a big RTH gathering out here, and I just may do that, at some point. I even thought of a few fun things to do....like a treasure hunt. Woody, yes that is a screened rock pile, or it was at some point. But...do you know how many agates I have pulled off that pile 1/2 dollar size sometimes? They are pretty chewed up but I just clean'em up with my dremel, and roll'em in the tumblers! This is the BEST laker huntin' ground, I tell ya! I MIGHT have seen 5-6 people down in this pit over the entire summer besides me. No one goes down here, hardly ever! It's awesome. Planning to post some more pics of the pit later today, that you guys didn't get to see. (hope I get the chance to anyways!!LOL) Gotta get the slab pics taken now, so you can see some of what Steve helped me find....GOOD STUFF!!!!

Wow, that is really incredible to have a rock collecting spot like that right behind your house. I don't think I'd ever get any of my chores done if that was behind my place. I'd be high-grading those piles!

No doubt, what an excellent back yard! Thanks for all the pix - they're great! I really liked seeing the rock vein.
Marie, if you ever plan a hounding trip, count me in for sure!

Your "back yard" is awesome, Marie! What I wouldn't give to have a place to go look for rocks like that. What fun you must have had, poking around in that treasure trove with Steve. Good on ya!

Add me to the list! That is some gravel pit! We could look all day and not run into each other! LOL
You probably wouldn't want us in your backyard. Is there a campground nearby? Or a hotel? I haven't been tent camping in over 25? years. I know, what kind of a rockhound stays in a hotel.
Later, jeri

Those look great. I just went to my first rock hound meeting and the guy had a crazy lace agate (or whatever it is called its still beautiful). My wife and I both fell in love with it. Really I am just mining minerals, for gemstones, I can't start doing Agates, really, OK maybe I'll think about it .
