Tellfamily: Sorry, I thought you were starting a thread on a new topic. Since I wasn't getting virtually any gas at all I did not have any gas troubles, indeed I actually forgot about this. Since it is about a month ago that people mentioned that they were having problems with gas, and since I was not, I think such forgetting is understandable. Discussing my progress with jasper and then suddenly someone comments on Photo-flo and only parenthetically mentions the jasper made it seem a nonsequiter, like you wanted to discuss photo-flo but did not know how to start a new topic, only how to reply. If I had had more gas I would not have made this mistake. Again, I apologize. cookie3rocks: You have 1,286 posts on this forum. I would expect you, as a god, to know better than to try to start a flame war. You did not have to post your comment, Tellfamily had already commented on my misunderstanding quite well. He is a newbie here, and he is the one I inadvertantly offened, yet he was far more mature in his posting than you were. I thought you were a helpful member of this community. I am sorry to learn that you are also a troll.

I have been called a troll for asking on a palmpilot forum if the Windows handheld was a threat to the Palm, so I know how it feels to be called that. But cookie can step into a matter which is not her business and do so in a fashion which I, as a Roman Catholic, find extremely offensive and that is perfectly OK. I have trouble dealing with people (in fact, I have been diagnosed with Asperger's) but I would not use language like that, which I found far more insulting than when I was called a troll. You should also be careful of the language you use with people, too.

One aberrational instance does not a troll make. I wrote as though it did. For this I apologize. Everybody has bad days, and I accept that not everybody sees things as the other person does. Cookie's post was not at all in character with her other posts, just as I believe mine were not either. Let's start posting in character again. Also, if there are more comments from anyone on this matter, let's use private messages, OK? And now, back to the jasper.

Everything is straight with cookie now I rinsed off the stones and then tumbled them for a while in clean water. The water came out tinted, so I tried putting in the 600F and I will see how it looks. I will let them dry in a week or so and maybe clean again and 600F again. I'll let you know. I opened the bag with my teeth, so I had to brush and floss. It is probably Asperger's...my mind keeps going like a laser beam, so I forget other things. I will even have to open it again because I forgot the pellets!!!

Calmer now... First, it was my misunderstanding of cookies' post. I wanted to make that clear. Second, I am just doing what Dave at Rocks-n-Chips told me to do. Worked great the first time...wish I had taken pictures then, but I no longer have those stones. He says 3 spoonfuls of 60/90 one week, recharge same amount and do second week, 600F one week then polish one week. I used 60/90 a long time here though and STILL had some blemishes...maybe I can just arrange the stones to hide them. And dang, I have two more loads of that jasper. Looks good other than that, and at least it has no gas.

You might want to add a 120/220 stage. I have to start with 120/220 (in the vibe) then go to 600. I have been going straight to polish after that, but I just ordered 1000 to have 4 full phases. I'm starting less coarse, but that cuts out a stage. Most tumblers recomend 4 stages. Worth a shot.

i keep mine in 60/90 fully recharging every week until they are completely smooth with no blemishes. some are ready quicker than others and i pull them out and set them aside until i have enough smooth ones to move to the next stage. i add more rough to the ones that were not ready to make up for the ones i took out or the loss of material in the grind. when i finally have enough ready i move on to the next step. sometimes it takes months to get ready for the next stage - and lots of 60/90 grit too ;D. i've never skipped the 120/220 stage but i think birdseed said he does.

I just finished fine grit. I will dry the stones with the fan and see if I need to go again. I was thinking of using some of the extra jasper to bulk up the load if so, or when I go to polish. How does that sound?

mazanec what do you mean by "extra jasper"? i'm envisioning rough jasper which by no means needs to go in with rocks that have reached pre-polish or polish stage. it will nick and scratch them.
