Starguy - Brent, that is freakin' awesome!! I'm going to guess you made the indents with the chisel you made??

Brent that looks fabulous! I love it. You've got your creative juices flowing now.

Thanks Jason. That chisel got used quite a bit (pardon the pun) during that project. I used it on cold and hot steel. The sharpened end held up great. The other end shows some hammer marks and mushrooming
Thanks Nate. It’s actually kind of neat in hand. After forging and chiseling, I cleaned it up really well with a wire wheel. Then I heated it with the torch until it started getting some tempering colors. When you roll it around in the light you can see bronze colored places as well as blue and violet. Pretty happy with it for the first try. The chisel I made from S7 steel held up remarkably well.
I just copied the techniques from the guy at “Black Bear Forge” on YouTube. It’s probably 2 hours forge time. The next one will be faster. I was making “S” hooks at the same time. I can handle about 3 smallish pieces in the forge at one time.

Here’s a short vid that shows the colors better. Well that didn’t work.

Starguy - I converted the video from a {auto-correct: MOV files not allowed} file to an .mp4 file - Maybe Cloudinary doesn't likes {auto-correct: MOV files not allowed} files...
EDIT - I see Proboards edited what I wrote about MOV files! LOL

They’re pretty fun. That first one took a couple hours. I got six more started yesterday. I’m definitely getting faster and better. The coolest part is making my own tools. So far I’ve made a few chisels and a swage block. They are helping speed me up.

The colors on that one are beautiful! Great job.
