I've seen a lot of claims about mental illness come and go. I'd love that it were true.
My favorite thing to have come along in awhile is that studies show that anti-depressants are useless. That's right. It's a fact that they don't work, yet we advised to not stop taking them.
My brother was mentally ill. The cocktails they gave him made him worse. He ended up killing himself. I am very familiar with mental illness. My daughter was recently released from a mental ward. She had a psychotic manic break. The pain is real guys. It runs strong in my family, so if there are new answers and treatments that prove hopeful, I'll be happy. But, call me a Doubting Thomas.

My family has a history as well (not trying to one up or keep up Tela), couple of kin been in and out a couple times with paranoia and absolute mental breakdowns, a schizophrenic uncle. There were a couple times I got close to losing it and can say the meds are a crutch at best. I think being honest, like brutally honest with yourself and others, can help fight off some of the demons.
I don't think it helps everyone in more severe cases, but those on the fringe need to work it out for some inner peace.

I have a lot of personal experience With general depression mode For many years it really nailed me I tried all the available cures Even the nastiest one amazed to an extent -that I'm here Only time & perseverance got me through I think in my now advanced whatever Its gone. Although that eff is always lurking I don’t attribute my depression to a mental disorder Just to bad luck and mediocrity If ya get slammed hard enough And lose your sense of a personal narrative There is only so much one can do to recover Somehow I was always able to get up and do whatever job Usually just entry level Enough to keep my head above the payment Butte really I cheated And I’m ashamed of that Because I couldn’t make it on my own I really have lot of respect for those who do Its got be a maddening thing to accomplish Anyway no one gets out unscathed mostly also have to say the rock hobby was a life extender other wise I wouldn't be for whatever that worth it was just my own form of therapy Doing it alone is not the answer for sure....

I view the mental state of humans like floating around the edge of a large whirl pool. When things are going fairly well we are in almost calm water, when they are bad we are close to being pulled into the abyss. Genetics, environment, and good and bad luck all play apart. So many young people are dealing with problems at home bullies at school, rejection, harassment, and low self esteem it is no wonder there are so many problems. Finding a positive endeavor, supportive environment, and friends can make a difference.

No Way! That's a "mustake". My brain on display. icon_think I wonder whatever happened to all the Mustakes I drug home over the years?
I spent a lot of money and time becoming and working as a hypnotherapist. I am amazed at how many serious problems were initiated in childhood! Phobias are usually CURED (never use that word say the experts) in a few minutes by a multitude of trigger - response separation techniques. Many are the result of misinterpreting an early situation and a part of the mind still searching for the proper response. Bringing awareness to the full brain usually finds a proper solution. Brain defects are a whole different thing.

"How is your brain tumor, you might ask?" I am slowly pursuing that, but still have paperwork and health records to send to the neurosurgeon group. Also a matter of paying for it (after insurance paid their share) after moving stuff in moneymarket accounts, selling some stock, etc., then paying $62K to the plumbers for digging up under my slab and in my yard, and replacing the 60 year old cast iron pipe. Then truck smogging and registration. So glad tax day has been moved to October! I'm also in the process of getting a new homeowners' insurance policy with a new company. (The last one I had is no longer doing personal insurance.) before April 6.
Sorry for keeping you all in suspense for so long, without even an update. But I had no new news!! My bad! Will try to be better about that. Although this is my first post in some time, be assured I do check the forum every now and then.
When I first found out about the toomer in my noggin, I was ready to do whatever I had to do, but now, I'm not so ready. You can say I'm scared, I won't lie to you. The doctors had assured me it would be a snap, but later told me it wasn't risk free. Well, duh!, I figured that. It is brain surgery, after all. I could either wake up dead, or wake up someone else, with all the knowledge and memories I have gathered over my 65 yrs jumbled or missing, or be a vegetable. I don't like any of those choices.
I've been reading a lot about it online. Sometimes the menangioma will go away spontaneously. But I know that it should be removed. I will when the time is right.($$)
But I am getting better everyday, rarely having headaches or other symptoms I had before. I did have these same symptoms under the same circumstances about three years ago. I never went to the hospital, or even to my doctor, and the problem went away. I never would have even known this time except for Covid sending me to the hospital for two weeks in December, where they did CT scans and MRIs, and saw what they saw.
So, Tela, I will at the very least have a consult with the team, maybe I could get another MRI, and see if it has grown - or shrank, or stayed the same. This is what my PC said to me, I don't have to run straight to the hospital, and have them start cutting on me. We can look at other options, if there are any. Until such time, I am still alive, enjoying life.
Gotta go for now. I'll be back!

Yeah, I think it's a good idea to see if it's shrinking or not. No point rushing in. I'd be hesitant, too. But, I also know I'd want it out. Tough situation. We are still thinking about you and I get PMs asking about you. So, don't be a stranger.

Good to hear from you rockpickerforeverI've known a number of people through the years with mental illness and it can be brutal. The more I see, the more empathy I feel towards others, and I've come to know that almost none of us gets out of this life unscathed. I also feel less judgmental now that I've know what I didn't before. There's few simple answers.
