I'm sad to announce that Rodney Frisby - rckdgr has passed away as the result of a 4-wheeler overturn accident. I heard about this from his close friend Tony catmandewe I know many of us might not recognize his username but he was at the least an active reader of the forum even though he hadn't posted in some years. Posting this with family permission through his friend Tony catmandewe who is working with the family to make sure their needs are covered. From Tony: His forum name was (admin edit) @rckdger. He was married to Jaime and they hosted the first RTH burro creek get together many years ago. There were 29 members in attendance that year. A year or two later they were at the second RTH Burro Creek get together, but someone else hosted it. (Her name escapes me at the moment) Rodney was a miner of Desert Bloom variscite, Vista Grande variscite, Arizona Shattuckite, and many others. One of my best friends. We almost have all the loose ends tied up here. The family has asked if we can do a memorial at the Q BBQ, so we will probably be doing a double memorial this year. You can go ahead and announce it if you want. I am here at his house getting things moved around and settled. Not sure when i will be home. Tony

catmandewe You have my condolences at losing a good friend. Please pass my sympathies to his family, too.
He may be an "old timer" here, but he was an RTHling, none the less. Peace be with him.

catmandewe I am so sad to hear this about Rodney. I only met him once, but he seemed like a great person. My deepest condolences to you and his family. May he be with G-d and rest in peace. RTH has certainly had its share of tragedy this year.

RTH has certainly had its share of tragedy this year. Yes, it has. I ran across a post of Vince's the other day and it mad me sad. It's a great profile picture of him, though, and the one you have now.

catmandewe - I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your good friend. I have to echo what others are saying...it's been a year of quite a few highs...and quite a few lows for a lot of members...

I met Rodney briefly when Tony stopped by on his way helping him move to Mina about a year and a half ago. Real nice guy, and way to young to leave us.

I don't know the man, but I'm sad nonetheless. Hoping for the best for him and his family.

It is hard to loose a friend, and very difficult to lose a husband or wife. My condolences to the family and his friends.

I am going to miss you my friend. Sorry for the loss of your friend Tim. I feel like I met him along the way but I can't place it. Thanks for the photos - I searched for one the internet but didn't come up with any.

I knew Rodney for many years. He taught me how to read the hills for agate. We mined Chrysocolla at the Kaitlyn mine. So many memories. His ex, Jamie (Desertdweller) and I were best friends. I am heartbroken. I was so excited to see him at Q this year! Been gone from AZ almost 5 years. Moved back this last June. I will be there at the memorial in Q and bawling like a baby. Rodney was a gòod man! I will miss him.

I’m a good friend of Jamie, Rodney’s xwife. She introduced us and about 5 years ago I spent the best day rockhounding in my entire life with Rodney. He has a fire agate claim in the Hummingbird wilderness area and he took me to it, 4wheeled me up to the claim, and let me pick fire agate out of his claim. What a day! The site is by Luke Air Force base west of PHX. From atop a peak we watched F16s fly by numerous times as we picked away. It was rock hounding heaven, an experience I’ll always cherish.
GODSPEED RODNEY!!!!!!!
