The back of the fish was cut flat so it would adhere to the Obsidian better. I also cut the face of the Obsidian flat rather than rounded like most cabs. On the fish I lapped it flat on a piece of glass with tumbling grit the same way that I flatten stone layers for assembled stones like opal doublets and triplets. The Tornado is a piece of Brazilian Agate. The dendritic piece came from a now defunct very small logging community in Southern Oregon called Lincoln. I remember driving through the place when it was an active mill town in the mid 1950's when we would go to visit my grand parents in Medford, Oregon. Bob

Those are beautiful. At first it looked like you had taken a picture of a bowl of vegetable soup. Love your jewelry. Tami

Here is a closeup of the goblet. It is made of brass for the top and bottom (raised from a flat sheet), and the stem is cast of silver. The stones are Brazilian Agate. The piece was featured in Lapidary Journal (now Jewelry Artist) in August and September 1992 when I displayed it at the California Federation Show. Bob

Ahhh, Bob Rush, I've heard good things about you from Weeshan. Very nice work. I remember seeing that large cab on another board. I can't imagine doing anthing that big. It takes forever just to do a normal sized cab. ;D
