Okey Dokey - by request. I would think this particular board would need to be - well - more formally structured than the other boards to be of use. With this in mind - for those wishing to post could we implement these formats. Subject - "RockType - Finished" or Subject - "RockType - Rough" Im just doing a couple to kick things off. I think its a good idea - and would be better if the threads could be sorted by name - however this isnt possible, the search function will be useful though I think. We can see how it goes.

Great minds think alike! I like it. ;D Okay, who's got ocean jasper pics? You know I'm clueless on how to post pics. It would probably be faster if I ran them over to you! LOL! Keep posting those cool pics!

So... if we have a rock pic that we would like to add, but it is of the same kind as an existing thread, should we post it to that thread & not start a new one? That would save time with searching for a particular rock & maybe keep things more organized.
Just a thought....

edog you need to start a new thread named ocean jasper in here. that one is too good and might get overlooked in this one. it definitely deserves it's on!

Earth - yeah - like rocky said those pics should be in their own thread for everyone to see them better. If you get a mo - could you create one. If not - Ill move them for ya in a couple of days.
Cheers Mark

I think this idea is great!!! - I have a suggestion/idea - me, still being very clueless after nearly a year of tumbling, would like to see pictures of the before & after of rocks - some go in looking one way and come out nothing like the original - I can't tell what som eof my polished stuff is once out!
Apostle of the rock God my @$$ - what do I know

Mark Glad you took the ball and ran with it. Only been on 4 or 5 months and still don't have a clue but the pics sure help. Also like the b4 & after idea.
Thanks

Just a suggestion Mark. It might be good to have more than one photo of a rock in each post, from different people. People are going to come and go, might lose hosting space etc. If that happens and there are more than one photo of a certain rock there will still be some left if some go away. Bound to happen, just covering the bases as they say!! Regards, Bill

I thought that's how it worked. If someone has a picture to post, they should first do a search of the rock in this board. If it exists, then to post it in the thread that's already started.
If your rock doesn't exist, then you should start a thread.

Yup, I think that is the way it is supposed to work Alice. I was thinking it would be good to promote double/triple posting of the types of rocks. People will move on, the more photos the better.
Alice, that sandstone that you posted from Iraq is fantastic!!! It is so cool now, I can't imagine what it will look like when polished!!

not only good for if people leave, but it also saves time on searching. It's like a 1 stop pit stop for rock picture reference. It shows people variances of the same types of rocks, and what can be done with them.
Bill, I'm not going to tumble the sandstone. Even though it's hard, I'm afraid of it turning into slurry. To me, it's one of those "Best kept as is" rocks.

Wow Thanks for the pictures. It sure helps to see what something is before you try to buy it. Also makes it easier to know which kind of rocks are in your perticular area. Thanks everyone!! Tonja
