My dad seems to be jealous of all the pendants and cabs he sees me making. He wants one too............he has chosen chrysocolla for the stone and he wants it in a triangular shape. How could I wrap it and keep it looking manly? Obviously simple with no frills but I just dont have any kind of vision in my head on this one.
Any ideas?

Big. and a larger gauge wire. A pointy end; like a tooth. Use a leather cord instead of a chain.

Cher did one that was simple. and "manly" about a year (year and a half?) ago. Let me see if I can bump it up. Alternatively, Dan's (Blarneystone) wraps I would consider more manly as well.

My first thought was Dan's also! I love his style and want to wrap just like him when I grow up. I was also thinking bigger, larger wire and cord instead of a chain but my dad doesnt seem to want a large one. I think a small one would be feminine looking. I guess I could just make it the way I want it and tell him to live with it lol. After all, its a "daughter" present and Im sure he would like anything that I give him.

you got that right, Shannon. i've made my dad a belt buckle that he really liked and several bolos. he even likes just looking at my tumbled batches. you can get some money clip and key chain settings too. my dad would never wear a "necklace".

KD Good idea..........keychains and money clips are something I wouldnt have thought of. Those would make good gifts for the men in my family that I know would not wear a "necklace". Shannon

My dad has a rock that he carries around - uses it as a worry stone of sorts - a beautiful piece of pet wood, looks just like a slab of highly polished wood - I agree with the keychain - or maybe just a pendant with a jumpring through it, no wrap? I think he'll like anything you make him - my dad asked for a ring, I made him one it's beautiful but he'll NEVER wear it - he works in his shop all day getting his hands dirty & messed up! but he liked it anyways!

I would just keep it simple, whatever you decide to do. I like the keychain & money clip ideas but if you're gonna do a wrap, I would do a 'no frills' with straight lines and sharp angles. Use silver wire with the Chrys. and a hidden bail (those are so cool.. gonna try one on my next wrap). Put it on a black leather chord and it would look pretty sharp. You might consider orienting the triangle with the pointed end down also.
Looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to do for him... Dan

Anyone remember the barbed wire wraps? Here's a couple that I did - I think Rockyraccoon did the original for Snowdog? (faulty memory!)

The barbed wire is cool, I would go with that if I could figure out a way to do it just on the edges so that it doesnt cover the stone.
Hmmm, Ive got some ideas now. Thanks guys!

My dad LOVED the idea of barbed wire for his wrap. Hmmm, Im going to have to do some experimenting.

Here is one I did that I wear. It's a bit on the artsy side, but I like it. Food for thought
