Right on Tony, glad you finally got it all back to your house. What an adventure huh? So did the rancher have to chase off his neighbor lady or was the trailer safe and sound after being guarded at gun point?

Wow. I would love to have that truck load of rocks sitting outside my house to go through. My wife would probably kill me though if I came home with all of those rocks.
Let us know what treasures you find!

That is an incredible amount of rock! Will you be giving tours of the rock pile to those of us that live somewhat in the area?

Anyone who wants to come by and pick through it is welcome to, just let me know and we can set up a time, any RTH member can pick your own for 50 bucks for as much as you can get in a 5 gallon bucket. The final weigh in came up to 63,400 lbs, I had a good time pickin through it today, might have to build me a little shack out there with a cot and a sleepin bag, then I can just hang out out there and play in the rock pile.

Sheesh, and I thought I had a lot of rock ... NOT.
When I moved last week, I left most of my rock behind, but nothing of value, just "decorative" stuff. IMO, that just gives me an excuse to go overboard with accumulating new stuff. I only ended-up bringing eight loads here, loading my pickup with as much weight as I felt it could bear. I "placed" some of it, but I've got piles in my yard that I have to try to place to look nice. I have an acre and a quarter here, so it should take me a while to fill-er-up.

I was surprised when this popped up, I dont even remember making this post.
The rock pile has grown since then, it is now over 100 tons, we call it the $1 pile as we sell out of the pile for $1 a lb. It is open by appointment so if anyone wants to stop by and dig through it just let me know and we can set up a time.
This hobby has taken all my time so I have quit my job and just do this full time now, it sure is a lot more fun.
Thanks for bringing this memory up..............Tony

I would be there in a minute. Am also glad you "had" to quit your job so you cold be a full time rock addict. Lots of worse things one could do.

Wow. This haul happened before I joined here. I didn't notice the date stamp when I started reading from the beginning.
Already knew you have an amazing knack for big scores, so I just thought this was another new one. Was bummed that it was ten years old until the post updating the current size of the rockpile. Now I'm just chuckling and shaking my head in amazement.
I'm glad it has all worked out so well. Just goes to show that good guys don't always finish last.

Having been to that rock pile, I have to admit it was a bit intimidating. I hauled a load of rock saws over to Tony a couple of years ago and when I saw the pile, I was overwhelmed. I grabbed a few things but was really unable to wrap my head around it. We did have the most excellent trip to the Owyhee area the next day. Tony is a gem. (maybe 8 inches of rain by Monday, hence the hat).
