I haven't cabbed any at all this year. When Akansan got a new machine, she asked if I wanted to buy her old one now I'm a cabbin' again. If you haven't met Ronda ( our second meeting) you are missing a delight. Ronda is a sweetheart!! So I cabbed a few ghosts. Out of all the agate and jaspers I've cut, this is still my all time favorite material. I can make 3 ghost cabs while I'm just grinding one cab out of anything else. And just for fun I did a Pipeline Canyon also. Curt

WOW, Curt, you not only made three gorgeous Ghost Wood cabs but you also placed them such as I said "That's my favorite" with every scroll down. I simply cannot decide between the 2nd and the 3rd one! And the pipeline canyon is also a beauty.
Congrats for your new aquisition! Looking at those cabs it's well spent money.

Wow, those are terrific! I think my favorite is the 2nd Ghost Wood. I love that aggressive shape coupled with the open pattern in the wood! All are really gorgeous, though!

Awesome cabs. The Ghost wood is such an attractive material. That Pipeline canyon took a great shine. I've never heard of the Pipeline before. PM me if you'd like to trade for some Oregon materials. HPD

Awsome shine. What polish do you use? These were all taken to 100K diamond paste, Brent. Thanks everyone! It's good to be back to cabbing again. Looky here. It's Mr. Ken! Glad to see you here. I was wondering when you were going to stop letting Donna do all your talking for you. ;D

Mel, I don't know the species, most likely oak as that is what most of our wood is. The reason it looks this way is because it was rotten when it fossilized. The cells that had rotted away were filled with different colors of agates. Number two was filled with carnelian, number three looks like black, but is actually perfectly clear agate. I have a piece that I haven't cabbed yet that was filled with a bright red agate. Got great hopes for that one. Curt

Glad to see the Ghostwood back! Didn't know you had stopped grinding. That Ghostwood needs constant attention....didn't you have a pane of glass and some tumbling grit? The second is my fav...or...well, it might be the first one...or....or the last one. T
