Lay off the Hater-ade 88. FYI - the doll filler plastic pellets idea is a $ saver, especially if you use the typical 40% off coupons at Joanns Fabric, you can get a 2lb bag for $4.20. Just sayin, pretty good deal for something you can reuse...

It's still there, I just now downloaded it. Go back to the first page of this thread, and look at the second link in the first post, not the first link. (that one almost got me too)

Good info!! I never thought about reusing abrasives. I will have to find some containers now. There seems to be a lot of information on this subject, and some of it is a bit in conflict. But I am finding that it is more involved than the data that came with tumbler. I glazed over your tutorial, and there was 1 item I did not see. I read though another thread, and noted the removing some stones and replace with fresh rough. Always keeping a tumbler full of rough until you have enough shaped stones to continue to stage 2. I think i am going to need more tumblers and more tupperware.

Just a head's up; if you can't get the pdf (I couldn't) you can contact ASI Industries-Andrew for an email copy of it. I did and it's worth reading it.
It may have solved the issue I've been having.
Thanks all for the helping hand. Elaine.

Welcome Ron to Rock Tumble Hobby at Proboards, You found RTH and thats the first step to a life long addiction This is a pretty old thread and has very valuable information. I would also encourage to you check out the visitor/member section and post a bit about yourself as you have here. In doing so you may have more members here see your posting and questions. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/board/13/visitors-membersMy first tumbler was a plastic little kids barrel with a simple kit. I amazingly got a polish out of that noisy little guy. There are lots of tools and help in the Rock Tumbling section that will help get a good jump start on tumbling. If you are using a mobile app to view RTH you may run into problems searching threads and finding threads by site. The proboard app is useful but buggy. My suggestion would be to try and tumble some jasper/agate first. Obsidian is a little more difficult to polish up in my opinion. After I felt confident tumbling jasper/agate and getting to know my tumbler I tried obsidian using RTH member Krystee's tumble recipe found on here. After I tried using the plastic tumbler, I jumped and got a Harbor Freight 3# tumbler on the cheap. There are mixed reviews about the motor from H.F. tumblers but I have had some great running H.F. tumblers for a good year and still running strong. While using the H.F. tumbler I started checking Craigslist daily for tumblers branded as 3# Lortone and Thumblers for under $50 and started buying them as I was hooked on tumbling If you are having troubles searching from the proboards site, take a look at this thread on how to Google Search on this forum. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/55498/search-forum-answersWelcome to RTH, Matt

The links are dead-ends and the tutorial is no longer there. What is the point of this being a sticky?
