Hi Everyone; I am new here. I have an old sears companion tumbler that was given to me several years ago. I finally dug it out and started using it. It has been running for the last 3 weeks but now one of the gears has worn down to nothing so the shaft wont turn the barrel. Does anyone know where to get any parts for this old tumbler :help: Thanks cindy

Sorry, I gave the parts you need to another member a few weeks ago. I hope another member can help you. Montgomery Wards also sold the same tumblers under their brand name. Don

Star Diamond and Lortone both made Sears equipment. Star Diamond sold their tumbler line to Lortone before thy folded. Check Lortone line and see if anything looks similar. Other than that, post a picture here for more help. You may have to reengineer it.

What size is your barrel ? I still have the barrel from one of those, but they made them in 2 or 3 sizes. Don

I do too! But can you even imagine how much all that neat stuff would cost now!?! I wonder where it all went, just like all the other '60's & '70's rock stuff. Dr Joe .

One possible fix for this gear problem would be to get with an industrial supply place. I have dealt some with an outfit that handles Boston Gear products, the selection available through them is huge. Might be a workable replacement out there.

A photo would help (You have to use photobucket or flicker) us see the problem.
Simple fixes are often possible.

In my search for this broken fan gear. I stumbled on a 3D printing service called Shapeways . WWW. shapeways.com. the list a gear the looks indentical and listed as a replacement for sears Companion tumblers . The price was $17.95 . so i purchased . I am waiting to receive it.. They make it in several colors. . I thought it would be a good shot. They list a different model # but the one's i have seen they all look alike I anyone goes on the sight Search Sears Companion in gears and parts . Sal

I looked shapeways up this A.M., looks like the way to fix your machine. I didn't realize the gear is integral with the fan, or that the gear isn't a true "by the book" tooth pattern. Hope that works for you. I think the 3-D printing technology will be the fix of the future for lots of otherwise unavailable replacement parts.

It looked the same But the Motor shaft was just a little to small.. I ended Up. placing a bushing on the motor shaft and This worked Out fine.. The printer piece was well made But I will not buy another Sears Like that Model. . Most of those gears are Broken. and To much trouble to repair.

Morning , thanks for your speedy response,
Could you explain how you got it to work and where you got the bushing or how you made the bushing ?. This is my first and only tumbler and my pocket book won't allow me to buy a new one anytime soon so for now I'm stuck with a " BOAT ANCHOR" and don't even own a boat, lol. I really need to fix this one until I can get another. Your help would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks again salpal48, Have a great day. hoss.

Thanks jakesrocks , The link, if you look at the thumbnail pictures of the rest of the tumbler you will see the part I need ( that orangey looking gear ) is the ONLY part on that tumbler that is all chewed up ( Just like mine,,,, ) the rest is brand spanking ,,,,, ahhhgggg !!!.
There has got to be someone on this planet of ours who has one of these critters gathering dust,,, somewhere,,. wishful thinking on my part I do believe .
Must be the proverbial "weak link" in that model,,,,,, crud,,. .
thank you anyway I appreciate the help .
hoss..

If I'm not mistaking, All of those tumblers sold by Sears & Montgomery Wards were made by Lortone & painted different colors to be sold in department stores under their name. You might want to check Lortone out for spare parts.
