This started life as a piece of scrap I beam, 10" long by 4" high by 4" wide, 5/16" thickness. After much milling and welding, followed by grinding and sanding, this is where I'm at. It still needs to be drilled for mounting screws. The work surfaces need to be sanded to 1200 grit and polished. Just goes to show you that a person can build anything, if they'll put their mind into it. Don

Thank you. Many hours went into building up the horn with layer after layer of welding. The place I worked at was on a slow down, so the boss didn't mind if we worked on homework projects when there was no shop work for us to do. Don

Thanks all. The boss and job were about 15 years ago, before I moved from Cal. to S.D. The anvil had been packed in a box and forgotten about until the other day when I was looking for something else. I decided to finish sanding and polishing it.

That's awesome. I wish I knew how to do stuff like that. I'd post a pic of my anvil, but nobody needs to see a picture of my balcony floor.

I'd post a pic of my anvil, but nobody needs to see a picture of my balcony floor. ;D ;D I didn't know what I was doing when I started on this. If I had, I would have made the horn longer. I just tried to picture in my mind what a jewelers anvil should look like, and went from there. Don
