There was a time when I predominately cut Mexican Fire Opal. For the past 2 years I have mostly cut Fire Agates. Today I decided that it was time to start cutting more Mexican Opal. The first one off the wheels is this 19 x 12.5, 12.2 carat stone. This stone has a little of the matrix on it.
It is rainy today so was at the mercy of artificial light taking this picture. I do much better with sunlight
rockpickerforever: Cold here (56 degrees, brrr!) this morning, but it'll warm up soon enough! Expecting temps 20 to 25 degrees above normal today and tomorrow. And those Santa Ana winds. Not even a hint of a breeze right now...

headfullofrocks: Aaaahhhhh, Vancouver Island, Appx. 13deg Celsius. Grass is green, got some obsidian in cerium oxide tumbling away, and the sun is peeking through the clouds, can't ask for much better in the lap of geographical luxury. :
