Sigi, It's a round green rock with a nice shine! I'm sorry, I guess there's a smart A in every bunch. I guess it was my turn today. Only a guess, but I would say it is some slight varation of chrysophras. Kinda gemmy lookin! pretty cab though..........gr

sounds like a dubbed name by who ever sales the rough.
I have purchased stone rough that is sold under names that are not its true ID. It takes some digging to find out the true name of the stone
of the stuff I have purchases under other than what it really is:
Piccasso jasper - really a marble Zebra jasper - really a marble Cotton candy serpentine - none/no pictures exists for this stuff purchased from a friend in New Mexico who went out rock hounding and brought it back and sold it as cotton candy serpentine Vista onyx - from Mexico but maybe not really onyx at all but some sort of mix of onyx travertine
there are lots of others too numerous to get started on

Just from the look it appears to be green aventurine quartz but then sometimes it's hard to tell from a picture. Hmm could be mtorolite( chrome chalcedony) from Zimbabwe instead...Mel

i don't think its mtorolite, unless its a lesser grade. Mine has no inclusions. I think its more of a green quartz, too. mary ann

Some gemological data's: density: 2,66 g/cm³ RI (Spot): 1,545 Chelsea-filter: reddish dark brown, strong hardness:~6,5-7,0 pleochroism: grayish green/yellowish green, very strong inclusions: little pyrite
I think it is a variety of quartz.
