Hi everyone, After doing some checking I finally got m new light box/light set up. I went with a two light set up with a 30" light tent. Came with two 80 watt 5100k bulbs (equivalent to 800 watts), two 6' light stands, two 8" reflectors four backgrounds (red, black, white and blue) and cases for the light stands and a large case for other photo and light equipment. I thought I would test it out on a piece of Morrisonite that I got in the mail today. The last piece of last weeks slab binge LOL I think it makes a nice improvment from my prior pictures. What do you think? The whole kit $109.00 The company was great to do business with. A bullb broke on arrival and they sent a new one no chg. This is the test picture:

It was EASY Judy, Just set your camera to manual mode or aperature priority mode. Use a small f stop to get best depth of field. Disable your flash and don't forget use a tripod. Stu

A lot of what Stu said will depend on your camera. Not all point and shots let you have that kind of control but once you learn how you'll never want to go back to the auto shot LOL
I had an old Nikromat from the late 60's took the best shots I have ever seen. To bad the shutter broke and it was going to cost the price of a starter home to repair LOL

JUdy, An F stop is the number associated with the lense opeming. A photographed is created whenlight comes into contacy with a light sensitive substance which was once know as film. The amount of light allowed to make contact is determined by two things. One the shutter speed, in other words how long the shutter remains open . The other is the size of the lense opening the F stop. The bigger the opening the more light allowed to pass through the lenxe. When you have the correct balance between shutter speed and lense openning you have a correctly exposed picture. What kind of camera do you use? Here are some interesting videos to help you take better pictures of your jewelry and small objects.

James my first camera was my fathers pre WWII LEICA 35MM RANGEFINDER. LOL that was the spy camera of it's day because of it's small size and wisper quiet focal plain shutter. No electronics unless you had a hand held light meter.
