All the polished garnet I've ever seen is fractured in a million pieces. Your looks pretty familiar. It was like that before you polished it wasn't it? Nothing to be embarrassed about. As for the prasiolite, it's heat treated amethyst, not a natural gemstone, so I'd just leave it as it is, which is pretty damn cool.

Nice quartz and carzy lace cross. THe garnets are a challange in the best of times and yours is no exception- the stuff just likes to fracture! Good job on all of it!

Thanks for posting this! I haven't had a chance to work my Tourmaline in Quartz, I'm a little nervous about isolating out the needles properly. Having seen what the light box does for the needles, I'm thinking I'll start by making windows maybe???
