Anyone who's tried it knows that the search feature at the top of the page is not very effective. You'll get better, faster results if you use the search feature of your browser instead.
Open a new tab or page. In the address bar or Google search bar enter this:
site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/ "your topic"
"your topic" is the word or phrase you want to search for
For example, search for this: site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/ "cal silica" (remember to use " " around multiple word terms)
Now try it with an additional term: site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/ "cal silica" "man made"
Try your own search. See how it works?

I found this search method to be excellent!
It certainly makes RTH more user friendly as search capabilities are really important on a ROCK"N ROCK FORUM!
Thanks Mark

I'm trying to post but can not seem to find the location to begin a new post. I have recently acquired equipment and books from Wm. J Bingham and would love to see if anyone is interested in this stuff. I'm not a rock collector, my dad was friends with Bill and when Bill died he acquired a gem cutter, notes, books etc from Bills estate and rather then trow it all for the city to pick up and dump, I thought I would try and locate people that would appreciate any of the stuff. Thank you.

Hi all,
I am new to rock tumbling, and would like to find the best rotary rock tumbler on the market, with a 6 pound capacity approx. Could someone please help me with this? The reviews online are not helping me much.
Thanks! purrvision

I've been searching forums and the web for years this way, including this one. Most forum search tools are pretty lacking. Be sure you don't have a space after the the colon ( - that seems to be a pretty common error. And, while it works, you don't have to put quotes around a single word that you're searching for. Most often it's used for picking up a specific multi-word phrase or term. Just as a note, you also don't need the forward slash (/), but it won't hurt. ETA: Not trying to "one up" you, Chuck. For me, the less keystrokes, the better. If you really want to see what you can do with Google, here's a list containing commands for searching the web. www.lifewire.com/advanced-google-search-tips-3482187Dave

With recent developments, you are able to use the new "Google search within this site" at the top of each page.

Tommy. Maybe something can happen to this thread. As is, it is misleading now that you have worked wonders with the google search at the top of each page.

Trying to find lot-o-tumbler. Tried the forum's search, then Google, with and without quote marks and hyphens. What am I doing wrong? Want to ask: after fastening the tumbler to a block or the floor, how do you unfasten it later? This is my first post - just joined the forum today. I've used rotaries for several months but am definitely still a novice. Now considering a lot-o-tumbler but don't want to have to dig up the garage floor when we move to another house.

Welcome to the forum, okobojicats. I have a Lot-O, but I haven't tried to remove it from the block. I used the double sided tape that came with it. I would imagine it could be pried off carefully or maybe a solvent could be used to loosen the glue. Personally, I would not attach it to my floor, but to a concrete block. I filled the holes in the block first to make it heavier as recommended. Although it is heavy, it's not heavy enough that I can't pick it up to move it if necessary. I'd just leave it attached to the block and move the whole thing,
