My mother, girlfriend and I are planning a trip to San Francisco by way of vacaville and Sausalito, from Chico, CA in a week or two. Not much luck finding rockhounding locations, though I know I've found reference to some before. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! -Mike

Let me know what freeways you going to take..
1. Jade Cove is a must
2. Antelope Lake for Rose Quartz. really nice
3. Eureka Valley for Smokey Quartz
4. Coulterville for Mariposite and Sepentine
5, Anderson Lake Agate and Jasper
If you like one or two let me know I will send a map..
PM me

Ok, we're set to head down this Wednesday, and stay for one night. Anyone else have idea of places to go while we're there, or on the way? :-)

I will only be there a day or so. Any help would be awesome.

Stay away from San Francisco, San Jose area Super Bowl Sunday. Traffic will be a mess with tourists. South of San Jose probably ok.

Wow, this thread picked up again. Sorry i haven't been on here in a while. Life has happened, multiple times, haha. I found a place for jasper right in the city, but it has since been turned into a little city park :-(
We're actually preparing for our quartzsite and Tucson trip right now. From Oregon to southern California to quartzsite to Tucson, then the same way back, over the whole month of February. Little truck, utility trailer, rock hunting tools, and lots of bins and crates! Anyone else going to be in the quartzsite/blythe area first week of February? We're going to look for some things to buy, hopefully sell a few things or trade some things, and have a few hunting locations in the area to look for rocks, if anyone wants to join us!
