Mine all started almost a decade ago when I first signed onto the internet with an AOL account. I thought & thought about it & all the good ones I wanted were taken. I have a love for Corvettes & purchased my 2nd one new off the lot in 1991 the last year for the L98 engine. Thus, you now know where my handle came from. Last PS. I inadvertantly posted a dupe of this thread. Sorry everyone, should have done a search first. Ahhhhh. I'm such a newbie!

Oops sorry about that Cher - I picked Rose because it was my surname before I married and not many people have heard of my real name so it makes things easier - also I love roses

Welllll....I worked as a prison guard in North Carolina for several years and the inmates had a heck of a time pronouncing my last name (Scheckler)! "Shek" was easier for them. When I first found this site I was so psyched about it I joined immediately before thinking of an appropriate "rock" name.

I picked it as a contraction of my first and last names. Believe or not people still have trouble spelling SROCzynski!

Mine started when I was a kid. My dr used to call me rocky.. short for Raquel? I dunno. He was the only one that ever called me that until my son came along and started calling me Raq. So then I had a website where I sold jewelry called raqysrocks.com. So its just my name or a variation. ha

Well...pretty simple for us. One dad buys two boys a tumbler for Christmas 2006. Dad spends time researching RTH site...shares info with boys...all become totally addicted before even tumbling a barrel! So, 3tumblers is short for "3 boys addicted to tumbling in theory" up to today. As of today it is short for "3 boys addicted to tumbling in reality!" We officially started tumbling today with some rock from fellow rth'er, mirkaba. How long do you have to wait to take the candy out of the black rubber candy jar?!?! Now comes the hard part...patience 3tumblers

Ha 3tumblers, before long it will be Three tumblers competeing.
As for my name, I have posted it before in "this is me" and am a wee bit embarassed as to how self serving it is. But will explain the last part, I was "into" computers before the internet the closest we had then was Rymenet we sent messages to a BBS and at midnight those were sent to a sub central computer (In our case KC) and the rest of the people could read them in a day or two. I was co sysop on one of the largest BBS's in Ks. so could do pretty much as I pleased on most things. When the internet came about I found that Spike had been taken on AOL and hmmm what was the other one? So added ICT which was the the identifier for Wichita Ks. Airport on most weather radars. That worked well on ICQ,and Aim type sites, so kept it. That was before they turned into what they apparently are now.
Quick side note: I was known as spike when on the job, one evening I had stopped by the hospital ER and the nurse I wanted to talk to was busy and I got a call so left. When the nurse was free she came out and the desk nurse told her "Spot" was here for you! It took awhile before Spot was lived down.

One of the sand plants the wife and I hunt agate in , here in Iowa , has an end loader operator with a crude sense of humor , a rather crude and rough individual and thats one of his good days. If you throw the BS right back at him as fast as he hands it out you are home boys and good people. He is usually so grungy dirty and scrufty looking that most visitors won't even give him the time of day, let alone go out of their way to look for him and chat. After a few trips to this plant I began to notice that at the end of the shift he would spill a full load from the classifier over a 30 ft. stretch right next to the pile he had been working on. Thinly spread and still wet, easy for mom to sort through. I began leaving a cold six pack in a cooler on my tailgate for him and the dredge operator when they left the plant. One day at lunch time he left his end loader parked in the shade under a large maple with the bucket raised to waist level and sticking out in the brite sunshine. Opportunist that I am, I walked over and said something to the effect, OH , FOR ME ?, and began to rummage around in the bucket looking for agates.Sitting in the shade leaning back, the operator just had to make one of his famous comments.
Ya know, he says, leaving a load of rock layin around here is like havin a road kill at the end of yer driveway. It hardly quits movin and somethin 's crawlin around licken on it. You and yer wife are like a couple old maggots, yea thats it he says, AGATEMAGGOTS.
Drawing myself up to full height and trying to sound as indignant as possible, I replied :
I RESEMBLE THAT !!!!!!!!!!!

Because Rock God was already taken. Just kidding. It accurately represents what I do mostly as a lapidarian.
