Wow, I totally missed this thread. A separate bowl is highly recommended for the best possible results. Coarse grit embeds itself into the plastic bowl, not bad but enough to slightly affect the end result.

Hey Randy glad u found the thread!!!! Went to Va to my high school reunion last wknd so had to clean out the loto and leave everything soaking in the bowl. So restarted it Thurs with 1000 grit al ox and after 3 days cleaned it out and relaoded my new polish only bowl with borax and 1/2 7teaspoon The Rock Shed al polish. While it was getting mixed up I took a pendant that had gotten too thin and washed it expecting Connrocks prepolish shine.... Nope it was dull n cloudy.....so disappoinet but today I checked it this afternnon, would be 24 hrs in polish and washed two off and dried them and WOW looked like glass!!!! Gonna give it 4 more days as per Randys advice. I am so happy this is working!!! Hey Mark its really shiny!!!

Yee haw!!!!! Took the tumble "Bikerrandy" pendants out of the Loto today and after burnishing with borax overnite. Had them in The Rock Shed aluminum oxide polish for 5 days. I am overall pleased with them. I know yall wsnt pics but my tablet doesna like photobucket, my.poor Verizon signal times out before they load. Anyway about 150 look pretty good, liquid mirror shiney, some have extremely tiny pits but for what they r and the slab scraps I trimmed them out of they r very nice. One observation would be that three days in 120/220 might be too long or maybe straight 220 grit would be better. About 8 blueish grap strpied ones came out only matte finish and only 1/16 inch thick! LOL Soft material I guess. Three desert jasper came out almost ground up and dull, musta not been jasper. Three really beautiful banded with bright canary yellow alternating with lighter shades of yellow and it was opague came out more rounded but with plenty rock left but is dimpled with a pebbled dull surface. Big disappointment. Had 18 pendants that looked black when I sawed them out came out really shiny spots that looked metallic black with silky not quite shiny areas that look dark blue. I like them, about half shiny half blue in regular pattern. Pretty good I think.
Refilled the Loto with rocks of every shape from the 60/90 rotary. Taken a lo.g time to get a Loto full but finally got it Chuck! I am going for a Loto shine like you get Chuck, I picked them out with no cracks, crevices or pits so high hopes here. They r fairly rounded too. Thznks, Bill
Mark I got a Loto finished with the motor going out!!! Yee haw pardner! Thanks for givin me the Loto!

you mean the motor did not go out? do you still have to manually spin the squirrelcage to get it spinning?

Yes I meant without the motor goin out! Yes I have to spin the motor by hand to start it but thats ok its working! I oil it every few days, if you stop it and immediately start it it will go slow for a second and then take off by itself. Long as there isnt a long enough power failure for it to not restart its allright. Not a fire hazard I have it.on a circuit breaker strip that trips if it stays locked up. Cant wait to see the tumbles! They r gonna be a village full uf Marks rock people! Xmas scene u know!
