Nah, it was a pleasure doing it. Us desert rats like making maps. We die if we get lost! Only thing we want is lots of pictures posted of your trip! And you Tony, keep a couple special Grave Yard Points hidden under the table for us to buy at Q! Don't let the others see them!!!

Man, that Larry is an alright guy. Got a box in the mail today filled with creosote bush clippings. He didn't say if he or Goober peed on them. Man that smell brings back memories.
Thanks Larry. I'll put a sprig under my pillow and dream happy dreams of hounding in the California deserts.

Yeah Don, thought that unique smell would bring back memories. Found this picture which shows how I'd like to retire out there, if I can only talk Diane into it. And check it out, even have a pet raven to keep Goober entertained!

The more I read these posts, the more I am seriously envious of all people heading out on this trip. Winter here has just begun, and I am already tired of the freaking rain, and damp. Woody

It's only 2,000 miles and 29 hrs of driving for me...lol. Think I might have to pass and just hit the Rock show in Marietta instead..

Hi everyone! We are new to the forum, but saw your postings about a trip to the Cady's. We are desert rockhounds and have enjoyed searching the desert for a few years. In fact, my wife Kathy's grandparents roamed the desert for rocks and old bottles in the 1950's and had an antique bottle shop in Randsburg. Just wondering if the Cady's trip was open to everyone? We were planning a trip to the desert next weekend and it would be fun to meet other desert loving rockhounds. Thanks!

I think all y'all are just missing my friends from the Porterville, CA area. Think they were hitting the North Cady's this weekend. Too bad you couldn't hook up because those folks know the Cady's really well and I've been out with them a couple of times where we scored remarkable material......Mel

ya know, I've been watching this thread and thinking, gee that sure would be a neat trip, but there's no way. Now it turns out we're going to see the inlaws next week-in the Palm Springs area. So, I'll be hanging out a few hours south of you all. Hmm, maybe if I drop the wife off at her brother's house and head back north. I might be able to pull something like that of without getting shot. Maybe. I'll know for sure in a couple of days-we're leaving here Wednesday, be in Palm Springs Thursday evening-we'll stop at one or two spots in Utah on the way down, maybe somewhere on the Kelbaker Road Thursday. The ol' lady would just be mad that I went hunting rocks without her. Hmm. See what I can do.

I'll be there in spirit Scott. Maybe even pee on one of the sprigs of creosote bush that Larry sent to me. All the time holding a chunk of killer Lavic in my other hand.

All this week is suppose to be a good meteor show. They're saying 10-20 "fire balls" every hour. If one lands out there, wait until it cools off before you pick it up!

I've been trying to negotiate the Saturday off from work, but it's not looking promising. It's the last day of a month's long project that I'm in charge of. Ironically, Friday and Sunday are open, but not the middle day.

Aww... we'll talk about it when we get there - maybe theres a better way to divide up Roy's awesome prize gift amongst all of us hard-cores who showed up. I would hate to win by default because everyone else including my own brother who hurt his back, having to bow out.
