rockpowell and I explored Stephen's Canyon, just north of Cedar Cities Red Hill last week. LOTS OF ANCIENT ROCKS! Navajo Sandstone on top, then Chinle with petrified wood. The bottom is about 250 million years old. Major Hurricane Cliffs Earthquakes at the bottom of Red Hill has created a Giant staircase of the hill, so the geologic units keep repeating themselves, making interesting slices of the past for exploring! At the bottom, right beside the golf course we saw this interesting boulder: It's mate was on the other side of the road, so look for it. It is surrounded by the golf course. We saw lots of layers of Chinle volcanic ash. Lots of discs around from target practice. It was fun and educational. we will have to go back when we have more time.
