Ok, we voted so its number 10. The only debate now is whether or not it has "www.rocktumblinghobby.com" on it. Hmmmm - anyway - whose doing the manufacture of the stickers? I havent a clue where to start but of course will put some lolly in to support it. What i'd like to learn from this thread is who is actually into "printing" etc on the board and who is willing to produce the stickers. Because im not dead sure on whats what there. But in essence - the vote has chosen the design quite outright really ? (ps i got a badge for the wwr trip Ill put a pic up the morrow Ok - so who can do stickers? Cheers Mark

Hey Mark, I'm all for omitting the .com part. The member who said he worked at a place that could do these stickers was "jmsj", so you may want to contact him to see if he is still interested in doing these for us. The WWR badges are pretty cool, don't you think?

ok guys and gals i think after jm's post and hearing from zoran on the way too much extra work to draw in the little miner guy --- we have decided to leave him out ? -- if so what about useing #6 instead its very close to the other one and will save zoran from haveing to doit over again --- jm said if you want or dont want the url on the sticker it can be worked out on his end eather way --- remember the less work to make the cheeper it will be for us all -- what do you all think cause i think thats the way to go since the two are so close in design

blarney in jm's last post on the other thread he said he could do them both ways for who ever didnt want the url on there sticker-- i think most will be made with it
beef i think jm was saying the rth letters where two dif colors in #10 and that was a bad thing --- thats why i fig #6 the big rth letters are all one color in that one no shadow affect -- we can ask him to add the url for those that want it on there stickers -- id like mine to have it even if he just puts .com on the end it will still bring anyone here thats lookin

As someone opposed to including the .com I would like to say something.
It does not matter if some wear a shirt or display a sticker that includes the addr. and some don't. If most decide to show it then lets all do so, or not.
My concern (as if you didn't know) is that this will turn into a place that I do not want to come to anymore because it is full of ads, spammers, and phishers.
The way I see it is that if someone see's the sticker / shirt and is curious they will ask, which will give us a chance to tell them about it.
I hope I am not being paranoid Larry here, but so far we have a great thing and a great family.

I have to agree with Spike. I'd rather people see the sticker and ask me about it. I love to talk about this site anyway, the sticker just gives me another excuse.

Um - Mark, how could you be a Larry? I thought your name was Mark? BTW - I agree. If someone is curious about the hobby, just g**gling that name will bring them here. And I think we're all persuasive enough if asked about the sticker to bring others over to the dark side. (Or is it the side of Good? I can never keep it straight in my head. I guess it depends on how that last batch turned out, or how much we had to eat Ramen after visiting our favorite rock merchant. ).

Although I was initially for the .com, reading the posts above I agree that not displaying it would keep up the quality of the members. People really interested about it will find it imediately by gogeling the three words.

I don't know if this will be usefull or not (if not, just ignore). FYI: I received a catalog in mail at work from a company that makes signs, labels, tags, etc. They also make stickers. A vinyl sticker (decal they call it) with one color printed on a white, clear, or yellow background of 10 to 16 square inches (4x4, 5x3....) is $3.01 each for 125 or $1.67 each for 250. These prices are good if the customer supplies "camera ready art" or if their typestyles are used. Smaller or larger sizes are available. Carlton Industries, La Grange, Texas www.carltonusa.comI never have done any business with this company but I have been getting their catalog for many years (don't know why).

As of 15 years ago camera ready art would cost you $50. It did not matter how good your printer was it was not acceptable, at first I did not understand why until I saw the results from a company that did accept what was sent. When I was selling that kind of thing I usually ate the art work cost hoping to get repeat business. I am not a source for this, I stopped after one too many commision checks bounced.

I also was a supporter for the .com on the sticker. I too have changed my mind. I would like to be asked about it first. Can we have a vote? To .com or not to .com

My (n00b) take on this: Put the web site on - it's a good way to get people to the site. If you don't want it on do two versions. Camera ready copy has thankfully pretty much gone away. If you set up the text in OpenOffice word processor, export an Adobe PDF file from this you can send this to the printer and they go from there. Personally I am glad camera ready copy is going away... Andrew

I can't decide on the .com, but one thing I did like was the miner guy. I'm afraid people may think the sticker has something to do with rock music at first glance. Besides, he kinda reminds me of some of the members here Steve

Another reason I am for not having .com, is that way, if someone is interested, they will talk to whoever is displaying it, and you may meet a new rockhounding friend and a new member to RTH. There are no rock shops around here or places to meet fellow rockhounds. Terry

I like the idea of having someone ask me what RTH stands for. I like any chance to brag up the site to a fellow rockhound. I found it through a search engine.
