My wife and I got out to do some rockhounding. This was a second try, as the first trip was aborted due to a flat tire; a rock puncture that ruined the tire on Memorial Day and we just went back home rather than push on. The weather started out a bit iffy, but by the end it was a beautiful day. And we got some nice stuff and had a wonderful day outdoors together. Found lots of beautiful jasper 1 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 Plus we found some fossilized dinosaur eggs, LOL. (with spar crystals also shown) One really nice piece of petrified wood (so that's where I left my toothbrush) The scene appears to be an ancient shallow lake bed from my limited geology knowledge. At one place we found sheets of slaty material with what looks like fossilized mats of reeds. They didn't photograph well so I am not including a picture here. There were a ton of crystals along with a lot of waterline agate nodules. We picked up quite a few. Here is a nice big quartz crystal specimen I generally do not like to hammer-chip rocks while rockhounding (some popular spots are terrible looking because every rock seems to have been chipped), but sometimes it pays to pick up a likely suspect out and check it This one was already broken or else I would never have even suspected I can hardly wait to get back out rockhounding again. Those are nice finds Mark. The jasper especially is very nice and reminds me of Indian Fancy Jasper/bloodstone. What general area are you hounding in?....Mel

in my opinion there is no such thing as "too many pictures"! Those are some great colors, things you could dream about! My heart goes pitty pat over that awesome red geode... that is absolutely unreal!!!!!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Yes, I will be cabbing most of these. Someday I hope to show you them again in a finished form. (Hopefully not too long. I am thinking it is time to retire, LOL.)

Primo material! Some pieces resemble Morrisonite, others Indian bloodstone/heliotrope. Great finds: "central Idaho" covers a lot of territory, LOL. Retire soon and cut those babies!
