My name is Todd, but that just seemed too boring for a 'handle' so that's why I'm Toad...

I don't really have an eye for the detail or perfection in stone work that others do. I just cobble things together most days, and work with what I can find--river rocks. The play on words just made me smile because I also like puns.

Jakesrocks is for my dog & rockin buddy Jake. He's put his nose or paw on more than a few "keepers".

Got several:
KK: here as my name starts with "K's"
Asianfire: because I'm pretty much the only one cutting Fire Agates over here and that stone got me into the hobby.
BChallenge: I held a company selling vertical faceting machines for high grade material. The name at the time was Brilliant Challenge.

My first cabbing machine was a stardiamond with two wheels. I bought a genie and then added three more wheels to the stardiamond and with 8 inch wheels I do most of my cab cutting on it.

Good Earth was the name of my landscaping company first, then it became Good Earth Rocks when I started selling stones. Taken from the Pearl S. Buck novel of the same name. It's been hanging around my neck for 10 years now, and three companies. Sometimes I think it'll never go away...

fwfranklen = Freewheelin' Franklin = one of "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" characters from an underground comic book from the 1960's ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fabulous_Furry_Freak_Brothers ) when I was younger I was told that I sort of looked like the comic character...Yikes!!

rockjunquie because I am a rock junquie- the quie is because I especially like pretty rocks. Actually, Tela is a handle. too. But, if I told you my real name, then I would have to kill you. The few that know it, know this. Believe it or not, when I began online before '00, I had a cyber stalker. I will never use my real name online again. (Besides, Tela is a prettier name than my own. Pronounced Tee la.) And because of privacy issues and Google, I have one picture of me online, at etsy. Tela Formosa is old Latin- roughly for "design well formed". I picked it from a Latin dictionary. OK, I thought it was clever. It is my legal business name.

Mine is pretty obscure, but when I was a kid we'd watch the muppets and I always tried to talk like the Swedish Chef. I had this phrase of syllables I'd string together with his accent and inflection. Part of that string was "her-ken" which is where the "herchen" in my username came from and I added the "x" in the early 90's when I needed a username.
Dumb.

Tela is good, but I think your real name is pretty, too.

Thanks, Jean. Funny story- I get a whole lot of mail delivered to Tela. One day, I had to sign for something. The big, brown, beautiful mailman came to the door and looked really disappointed when I answered in my ratty rock clothes and grimy hands. He asked, " Are you Tela?" I told him it was my business name. He looked so dejected that I felt sorry for bursting his bubble. LOL!

Well, I wanted something memorable that had to do with rocks. I also like the idea of my avatar photo being just such a place.
