hey folks, i have a grip of rocks that i'd appreciate your assistance with. i have heaps i'd like to share with the forum in time that me and the boys are really fond of but this first batch of postings have me stumped. the first six photos are rocks pulled from a previously unexposed spot where there was a mudslide over the weekend when i was out hiking. the first rock is pictured in the first four pics below. it is quite dense at about 11lb. my initial hunch is that this is some sort of flint mixed with a bit of limestone or chert but i really don't know. most of our 'wild, caught' rock has come from rivers and beaches. i'm really not even sure why i grabbed these because they're pretty subtle and didn't jump out at me as all that attractive! i think in the moment that i thought it might have been something petrified and i was sort of taken by the allure of something previously buried deep that suddenly exposed by a landslide. (rock 1 pic 1) (rock 1, pic 2) (rock 1 pic 3) (rock 1 pic 4) (rock 2 pic 1) rock 3 pic 1 mm
