Don't want to get too sciencey on ya ( I just can't help myself *L*) but oolites are a sedimentary stone formation with spheres under 2mm in diameter, pisolite (fish egg stone) if over 2mm, and granite, being plutonic, is not where oolites would occur. Granite with spherical formations is called orbiculite but I think what you have are crystalline inclusions that are not truly prefect spheres but very pretty nonetheless.....Mel

I'm kind of glad it wasn't really an oolite or a pisolite. Something about those two stones and also Guadalupe Poppy Jasper send me into an OCD-ish gotta-have-it buying spree! Larry C.

Larry: I'm like that with Guadalupe Poppy too. See it, want it, gotta buy it. Like to collect the different color patterns. Have several slabs waiting to be cabbed but so far have only done one cab, the only piece I've ever found in olive drab colors. Ole Mel luvs the poppies and orbs!....Mel

When I see yellow in my petrified wood or Rio Puerco agates, I rightly or wrongly tend to assume its limonite (a iron hydroxide not supposedly a true mineral but a mixture of things). When I see it, its often egg yolk yellow. Tom
