Fun thread and a good reason to go over some old pictures. First up, green picture jasper (Wildhorse jasper?): I think someone posted this material on page 1, but here's Kabamba (Kabamby?) jasper: Unakite (from the Rock Shed): And now, to get a whole lot greener (and costing a lot more green too , chrysoprase: And probably my favorite of all, peridot. Pricy yes, but it's my daughter's birthstone so I tumbled some up for her birthday, years ago: -Don

I forgot about this stuff. I was given a grocery sack with a couple of pounds of really fractured green rock pieces. I had no idea what it was so I did the ol SG test and it came up opal. I should have guessed that the way it was all broken up. I have no idea where it came from and the lady that gave it to me said she got it at a garage sale. I was pretty stoked until I found out that it was probably not local. Jadeite or nephrite that I am trying (notice trying) to polish for Susan's friend. I can not remember where it came from. Maybe Myanmar. Jade from the same place. Tube agate that my son bought at a garage sale. I am going to do a thread about this rock. Given to me by the same lady that gave the green opal to me. Hematite and something green is all I know. Washington translucent green nephrite from Mel I think it is Montana soap stone. Brazilian soap stone. Local aventurine Local green jasper/agate. One of my favorites. Ok, I think that is all now. Jim

Jim/Wampidy I have to ask, did you craft those items (bracelets, slipper, mushrooms) or did you receive them in their present forms? I can't see much green in the 'shrooms, but I bet its there 'in person'. I love to see all the things people do with rocks. (that would make a whole'nother thread.)

Head hanging low speaking very softly "yes I carved the slipper". I tried to carve the woman to wear it too but when she came to life the slipper was too small so she beat the hell out of me then returned to dust. Now I only carve fairies and dragons but they are not green.
I was instrumental in getting the carving section started here but I only carve soft stone (alabaster) and am very jealous of the people that can carve hard stone then have the patience to polish it.
No bracelets. The little round things are jade rings that I have made hundreds of (well, maybe 50s of). I have given away 40s of them to family, friends and people that are nice to me. No, no, no, they do not have to be "that nice" but I am sure it would help.
Ok, before I get kicked off of here I am going to go cut some green rock. Jim

LOL Jim. Very nice. Love the piece on your avatar, did you do that too? I got a nice green surprise in my first tumble. I'm running medium grit now and when I rinsed a few off to take a look I found this one. Surprised the heck out of me, it was grey with just a little red streak when I put it in. Wish I could figure out how to crop and blow up photos. Spouse just installed a new program, time to sit down and fight through it all.

Yes, I am a multi-faceted hunk of old flesh, wind polished to a broken hunk of thulite shine with hands like knurled tools that turned to rust many winters ago. But like the description says "I am a hunk". At least three people on the planet would say "a hunk of s..." but I am sticking with the thulite. And I am not crazy I am not crazy I am not crazy but even I question that at times. Jim

Some green in these rocks I'm working on. They look green to me but I don't know if I have the best colour recognition. Just been through coarse grit. Nothing like the stunners in this thread!

very nice- I find some which cross that line between blue, green, blue and back to green... if my monitor is telling the truth, I'd say that batch leans green, too.

Ran across a few more...
This is something Barclay gave to me, came from the Panoche Hills (CA) area.
Something from a sale somewhere
Close-up. Don't know what it is, but it's green!
Another piece of Rainforest Jasper, this from a greener section of the came slab.
There is still some debate whether this is obsidian or slag glass (I vote obsidian), but it is for sure green.
An old school piece of bloodstone.
Green petrified wood, most likely Hampton Butte (from an estate sale).
Another pic.
This is a good-sized chunk of the andesite from the Brubaker-Mann mine.
Lucy (48 lbs) posing for size reference.
All for now!
