Will you saw them ? Lucky you. Look for those dredgings. Look for finger coral too! The insides a fine on Tampa Bays, and hard to find anymore. The last two w/the black area and the crystals hints at a hollow cavity. They may all be psuedomorphs.

we find corals here, too, mostly only partially silicified, but they are not as nice and white as yours are.. did you have to clean them, or did they come out that way? Will be interesting to see if they will cut and polish....if you go that way, please post photos here!

When I get a saw ill probably cut an polish. I will certainly post the pictures.

I will keep my eyes out but my wife was the one finding those. I only found a couple that day. When I go back next week, I will be on a scavenging mission for sure. We have been shelling for a while now and spend most of our time at the beach picking stuff up. I need a reference book for identication when I'm out. Hopefully we will get lucky next time out. I might have finger corals laying around in my collection somewhere, who knows I never come home from any beach empty handed. I'm going to go through all my stockpile soon to take inventory.

If you keep collecting in that area you will score well. May take a while to find honey holes but you will. I walked the short beach at Ballast Point just north of the pier and found some small but fine looking stuff. Keep posting please.

Very nice. Have seen some pieces that were cut and polished. they turned out really nice but also great just as they are if that is the way you go.

I just love searching and pounding my barefeet on the rocks(maybe I should invest in some water shoes). It all gets hidden in the rocks during low tide. Sometimes I will dig small holes in the sand and prospect that way and sift what I dig out for small pieces.

I started to grind down one of the pieces but since I dont have proper grinding tools, I'll go through alot of sandpaper on my sanding wheel. I would love to cut an polish a few to have a variety.

You have found some nice pieces there from the looks of it! It is so interesting to see what all of you are collecting.

I got another 50lbs today but not as much coral, just a few pieces and one medium sponge. But one of the corals I found looks very promising when it gets cut. Ill get some pics up this weekend.
