I'm not going to presume that I know anything, but I'm going to say "pine cone" is going too far. What you have appears to be chalcedony (OK it has multiple stripes or colors so we can say agate), but those round structures may be biological in origin, but not seeds. My best guess is that is a limestone where the Calcium has been replaced by a silica and hence things that might have been fossilized algae are now showing up in what looks like an agate. I could be way off base, but its like some things that I attribute such a scenario to in my area (New Mexico). It also is one of those rock that you might be tempted to try to enhance that contrast with sugar and acid or heat if you really wanted to show it off. Cheers, Tom

My two cents: Definitely nope. Tubes or eyes, or transects across botryoidal chacedony..Mel

It's definitely different. I vote for some kind of agate as well.

My educated guess would be a weird Montana moss agate...Has the characteristic's of a Montana... There is only one way to find out Nick, cut it...(I would cut it in a heartbeat)..

looks like a agate. maybe a tube agate?
Should probably consult Helen to ask about fossilized pine cones though just to be sure. (thats a bit of joke that goes back a couple years ago now).

If you want to just display it as is,wash it in "Dawn" dish soap for a day or so,than let it dry and wipe it down with mineral oil,it will shine enough for display...Thumbs up
