I have a question about tumbling agate with pockets of druzy crystal andsome on the outside of the specimens. Will tumbling these particular rocks ruin the sparkling of the crystals? I have a few rocks that I would like to tumble with druzy on them but I'm worried if I were to tumble them, it could damage the sparkling? Are my concerns valid, and or could I take precautionary measures to prevent their loss while tumbling ?

Tumbling that stuff will not only ruin the druze, it will take most of it off, especially on the outside. You might get away w/o much damage in pockets, depends on shape and depth. I don't know of any way to protect it. Best bet is to hand polish around the "nice places".

you would lose any druze/crystal on the outside. you might protect pockets by putting in a little beeswax in them. otherwise those crystals might break lose or get grit stuck in them.

Ok, thanks. I kind of figured tumbling would be a bad idea. Ill try polishing by hand.
