rock pickers heaven! Is that last one a cast? Amazing... I have never seen anything like that! Lots of good finds, looks like it was beautiful weather, such gorgeous scenery... sounds like a great day.

Wow, I'm seeing some really nice wood there. Are your rivers coming down? Still running real high here.

what a messed up trip. All you keep finding is agates and petrified wood. Keep trying, someday you will find the good stuff! lol
That one pet wood almost looks like it's precious opal-ized...
Nice day. Good for you.

That's some pretty nice pickin's, looks like quite an area to look at. Nice variety and good wood colors.

Nice outing! What is the chalcedony with the hole? Limb cast?

[/a] If you cut this top one, it should make some great colored pieces. Great batch of finds!

snowmom, and John, yes that is a cast. Pretty rare find here, Some are hollow like this one, some are solid.
Russ, Yeah they have come down enough to wade and fish but the flow is a bit above median for the date which is good as that means we should maintain good flow through fall. The one wood with red is also not a oft found item. Had some very good action on the gravels in the river channels, in the area pictured the river has been heading east for the past decade, and is abandoning some channels while renewing flow in very old dry channels.
Scott, the opalish one is just a bluish and gold/yellow chalcedony re-heals I think, cool looking though.
Thunder69, Not a bad summer, only into the low 80's so far, and rather green for the end of July. Had a morning last week I was out fishing at dawn and could swear there was that coating on the dew on the grass that is that stage right before frost. On a year like this the top of the Absaroka plateau will get a freeze by the first week in August.
