If buying on ebay, make sure they are the right size belts. There are 2 different 3 x 8 diameter belts. One only fits lortone wheels (25 1/8 circ), the other fits other standard (Scott-Murray 25 7/32 circ) wheels. There's just enough difference in the belt circumference so the lortone ones won't fit the other, slightly larger wheels and the larger ones won't cinch tight when spinning on the Lortones.

I suppose that would explain why my SiC belts slip on my drums so easily yet snug up under rotation. The Hans branded diamond belts are a nightmare to replace, too tight a fit. Guess I need to find some different drums for them...

Lortone bought Scott-murray many years ago. Their expandos are made in the NW, I have seen the molds.(I work in the rubber industry) Scott-Murray IS Lortone, and takes the smaller belts (25 7/32) The 25 1/8 drums are the Chinese made ones like Rayspan. The 2pc Aluminum and foam drums that Lortone sells also take the longer belts. If you run the Scott Murray drums at a full 1725RPM they work fine with the longer belts, but you have to carefully guide the edge of the belt as it spins up to speed so it doesn't slip off to the side.

They also seem to run out of diamonds a lot faster than other diamond belts.

Lee, not so sure I will do business with them again in the future. Think my 220 grit sintered might be slightly out of balance, both sintered wheels are rusting (not sure if that is considered normal) and the diamond belts are a bit iffy (though I have limited experience). I think they are doing a good job but I am not convinced that there isn't some random larger grit embedded that is causing some scratching. Can't say for sure since I am coming to find that I am a perfectionist and I don't know what "typical" is when it comes to this adventure. Ahh well

I think he was looking for SC belts. I've heard Arrowhead has good prices.

Thanks John their prices are the best I've seen, when I was looking at the price for a 50 belt order with shipping it breaks down to $2.47 each, deserthound you might want to go with these guys. Also they have 800 grit SiC belts too!

I've gotten them from Santa Fe Jewelry for about $1.10 each in small quantities. Lynn
