My wife had a friend ask for one of our wine stoppers today and I told I did not have any made but if she wanted to she could stop by and hand pick a rock for it. She stopped by today and I got out a few boxes of slabs and wouldn't you know she picked a slab that was on my workbench that I cut today instead of one out of the boxes. To make it more interesting she is giving it as a gift and leaving Friday to go out of town and deliver it. So this wine stopper was made from a slab that was cut at 6:00 pm tonight. I traced the shape with her at our house at 7:30 and now it's 10:15 and its all boxed up and ready to go. thanks for looking Chuck

Nice work Chuck. And nice to be helping the wife's friend on such short notice.

thanks - it felt good to cab again anyway. I didn't realize it had been 3 weeks since my last cab.

You da man, Chuck! Nice quick job. Your wife's friend is lucky to have a friend like you.
"... it had been three weeks since my last cab."
Sounds like either an introduction at an AA meeting, "... it has been three weeks since my last drink."
or the start of confession, lol! "... it has been three weeks since my last confession."
Yeah, I know, I'm hopelessly addicted as well.

We take a lot for granted. Imagine how she must have felt to see the whole process from start to finish. Must have been pretty cool for her. Awesome that it worked out the way it did.

Yeah I have a small slide show on my etsy "about us" page to try to show the steps for what goes into a cabochon but I doubt many customers ever click on it. I only charge $25 for the stoppers and I think if they were much higher they would not sell very well but after buying the hardware and then using most of a $6-$8 slab there is not much room for profit when just making one at time. www.etsy.com/shop/KiddRocksLapidary/aboutChuck

I went to you site, and after about 5 minutes, never saw a link to your making stoppers..... thought you should know.

The stoppers never really make it to Etsy I have sold about 120 of them now at shows and just by word of mouth. Chuck
