I have been trying to find out exactly where it is but they are keeping it a secret. Probably findable but they probably won't let me see anything anyway. The closest I have been able to pin point is the Big Horn Mountains which are only 30 miles from where I am but they cover a lot of territory.
If anyone figures out where they are I would appreciate a heads up. Jim

That's neat that they have a spot like that and protect it. Several years ago my wife and I were looking at some land in Colorado and this one place had a cistern for rain water to collect but all it was collecting was dead animals,it had a shape like a light bulb and was maybe 30' deep. There was a couple of deer, coyotes, bobcats, rabbits and a calf all rather dried up. It looked like at one time there was a lid on the thing so this pit in Wyoming is a natural death trap too. I envy those researchers the opportunity to go down there, they would need to rent a crane to get me in there, I don't climb all that well.

Jim It's just north and east a ways (well, quite a ways, but less than 10 miles) on bad roads from where you and I were that day we didn't find jade, but where we did find agate. Now, I haven't actually gone there for three reasons. 1) the BLM has a locked grate on it to keep people out , 2) the only way in is by an 80 foot rapelle, and 3) the powers that be would seriously frown on collecting a whole big mess of vertebrate fossils up in there. I've somehow avoided prison to this point and nowadays it would mess with my berry picking. Once you get up into the Bighorns in that area there is a lot of karst terrain and I'd bet there are a lot of caves that no one knows about. Russ P.S. Did every one figure that out from my once again excellent directions?

Anyone that SHOULD KNOW, does KNOW! Smart ass. Do you know where the old road goes up Russ? The first time I went through there they had not built the new road yet. It has been a while since I have been back up there so I do not know how it is now but they kept the old road open up to the water falls for a long time. Jim

That is quite interesting. I would definitely like to know as well when location has been established. I have been in a few closed caves up in the bighorns ( used to be a rebel ) and they were fascinating but from what I remember there were no signs of fossils. We only went in 3 caverns though.
