Sorry to chime in late, but... Here's my solution for mineral oil that's too thick and smell all in one. I found mineral oil can be a little thick so I started adding baby oil to it. Baby oil is basically a thinner version of mineral oil with fragrance. I raided two Walmarts and a Target and cleaned them out of their basic non-aloe baby oil. I chose the cheapest in-store brand and found it about $11 a gallon in the end. The mixture worked out great.
Recently I had to clean out the saw so went back for more and found Target/Walmart out of straight mineral oil (in the laxitives section). I just got more baby oil. Now I'm running about 65 to 70% baby oil and 30 to 35% filtered saw oil (which was a mineral/baby mix to begin with) and the viscosity is really good.
The added bonus... the saw smells pleasant, like a gurgling baby! My wife likes the way the garage smells too! BTW, I have a 16" saw that uses about 5 gallons of oil. Steve
