Not sure if I will even have the time, nature of the job. That being said, I know Arizona has quite a lot to offer. Anything close by that is worth the trip if I have the time? Would love to come back with something spiffy

insert code here wilcox has fire agate all over the place about a hour drive from there get the gem trails of arizona there are other places to go to Thanks Roy, will have to give that a looksee. Is the material float by chance? I don't have tools with me, no room in my luggage I do have a local recommendation for a rock shop, will stop there first thing and ask plus see about getting the Arizona Gem Trails book...have 4 for the West coast and Idaho areas already, great resource. Cheers

Cool! I am hoping to hit the rock shop when they open at 8:00 am then go to the closest place I can to pick up float. If I can fill the equivalent of a LFRB within an hour or so I will mail them back to myself and hit my flight. Small chance that my plans will get upended, work is a bit nuts recently. Our techs are all over the map and out of their usual areas (thus I am in AZ instead of WA). I have been dying to find some good Agate on my own, found one piece of blue material when on the way home a week ago in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. God help me but I am worried about the heat, going to buy a gallon of water before I head out Thanks again for the assist, would drive further if I had the time but I am going to have to stick as close to Tucson as possible. Work isn't so forgiving if they get a down site and I have to hit the airport ASAP. Cheers!

Well, heat and lack of time were a real factor. I am not cut out for Arizona in the Summertime it seems Found a few nice pieces of Rhyolite and Breccia that should cut/polish decently. Just small enough to sneak into my luggage. I would have loved to divert toward the fire agate area but I ended up being routed to Phoenix and flew home from there. I now know more about the area than before so will be better prepared if/when the next opportunity strikes
