Might be hard to see but the black has a flecks of a shiny/reflective material in it - mostly triangular in shape. Almost holographic. I polished a chip and it took a nice shine, but lost the sparkle. Going to try a larger cab with a high dome next. Any thoughts on ID? Cheers

around here I find a lot of silicated (morhped) basalt ( called basanite, touchstone) and a lot of it has feldspar inclusions. Very hard and takes a good polish, some has tiny flecks some has almost flowers or porphyritic look depending on the individual rock. not sure where that came from but might be similar stuff?

Thanks snowmom. Origin unknown, estate bucket....basanite sounds like a good option. Will do some research. If cab 2 turns out worthy will post up. Thanks again. Cheers.

Cool thanks for the link Chuck. Does look similar as near as one can tell from pix. I cant tell, did the flecks persist in the cab? Need a high dome? Cheers
