Thank you for posting this. Having lived in So Cal most of my younger years, I've been to Shark Tooth Hill a few times, Before it was turned into a fairly restricted dig site. Along with the fairly common shark teeth, I collected several vertebrae and other bones and teeth. My prize was a fang and partial jaw bone from an Allodesmus.

Great site. I live very near the insect site (Mule Canyon) and have collected the concretions. They are pretty easy to find on the roads leading to the old borax mine. Before the no trespassing signs. Never dissolved any though. A reportedly well known expert gave a presentation when we first joined the Yucaipa gem club. I believe he died shortly afterward but had some very nice specimens. The Smithsonian was trying to get some of his collection. The concretions are dissolved in acid to remove the outer limestone/concretion covering to expose the micro fossils. The other fossil area is next to Owl Canyon and Rainbow Basin. Definitely no collecting allowed there.
