I have been cabbing quite a bit over the last week. I was able to get a few new wheels which always makes cabbing so much more fun. They are not all the best cabs from the week, but they are my favorites, for various reasons lol.
Cherry Creek Jasper - Not the greatest cab, but I like the scene. At the bottom it looks to me like someone sitting on the ground and pointing up to the sky..
Unknown Jasper - This stones pattern reminded me of old landscape Japanese art. It is hard material. Any help with an ID would appreciated!
Morrisonite - I love the varigated greens with the deep maroon areas. They make the stone look like it is chatoyant (it isn't lol) It is going to need some touching up. Scratches magically appeared in the photo =\
I had some poorly cut, broken, and funky shaped Montana Agate slabs sitting in a bucket. I decided to try and cab them. They are all free-forms and to steal rockjunkies phrase; "a bit wonky" lol
Montana 1 - This one was a 1/2" thick slice that had broken. It took forever to grind it down, and as asymetrical as the shape ended up, looks like I should have kept grinding..
Montana 2 - This guy is from a very fractured slab that had been cut thick on one side and very thin on the other. Little pieces kept flaking off while I was working it.
Montana(?) 3 - I am not sure if this a Montana. I love the black dentrites against the milky-white agate.
Piccasso Jasper - This is a large one from a slab rockpowell sent me. This is easy material to work with and was a lot of fun to cab
Laguna Agate - This is another free-form from a broken peice of a larger slab. This took a great polish.
These next two I have no idea what type of agate they are. Any help with an ID would be great!
Unknown Red Agate 1
Unknown Red Agate 2
Ocean Jasper - This is from a broken piece of a slab I found, and have no idea where it came from. I absolutely love the ivory color with the green orbs and wish I had more of it.
Bruneau - This is my favorite of the weekend. It is a large cab and took way too long to polish; but it was fun. When I first started, none of orbs on the top were visible. It was solid brown. Once they started appearing I worked the cab slowly to try and get them all the way up.
Thanks for looking and also for any help with ID's
