ETA: Okay, that took several minutes to take it all in. That's just an outstanding set up and display. I got to wishing that the pictures hadn't been resized so that everything on the shelves could be identified, but then it would take hours to admire it all! I bet that people that don't do what we do must think we are absolutely crazy for collecting "rocks". Thanks for all the photos MrP, I could marvel at mineral collections all day and never get tired of looking at "rocks".

THAT' S a lot of rock! You will need several lifetimes to use them all. All look well organized , too. I'll bet you can find whatever you need.

Captbob - Thank you for the nice comments. As you can see I love rocks also. I have spent hours looking at them. Many of those I will have a hard time cutting.
Pamamark Thank You
Pat - It is true, I do know where almost every rock is.

You're likely to cause a depression in the earth's crust. Best send some of that rock my way to help avoid tectonic complications...

wow, that's wonderful, I love how you have made use of every square inch and managed to put so much more in the same space. Inspiring to a new rock hound to see how it needs to be done. before my collection gets out of hand I need to work out a system! thanks for the pictures... I think I will run into the same problem, won't be able to bear to cut some of my "pets".

Toad, Snowmom, Fossilman, Yes I do have a few rocks. Fortunately my wife likes rocks as much as I do. Well, I guess it is really the jewelry that I make from it that she really likes. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think a person can have too many 'rocks/specimens'.................MrP

I absolutely love the old flat files, GREAT IDEA for the slabs. I gonna be on the hunt now for one of those sets of drawers. Cheers!

bsk4463 I also think the files work great. These are old print files, as in construction prints, so are very deep. I had to put them in the garage but they were free so the price was right. I also have a bunch of Diebold business check files, which are much smaller and also work great for slabs............MrP

These are old print files, as in construction prints, so are very deep I remember them well...spent many hours in basement of an architecture firm running blue prints sucking ammonia fumes (key ingredient in the blueprint process). I was also thinking flat card/check files would work great. You are way ahead of me MrP.....thanks for sharing. cheers

I could spend days just checking out all those rocks. To have a rock shop in your house, that's a dream. Thank you for sharing.

I don't know which is worse. Having so many rocks or being so organized.

You can neither have too many rocks nor be too organized. Anyone saying different is simply jealous!

I am not sure what you guys are talking about, I definitely do not have enough rocks. I don't think it is as organized as looks, although I do know where to find most of them at any time. To think it all started by picking up a Lake Superior Agate and buying Lot-O...............MrP
