I finally made the short haul over to the Anaheim Searcher's rock club meeting. I had been wanting to go because <'))))>< Fish. Dan has always said they do lots of field trips and I love field trips, but I just never made it there. More recently, I had a private discussion with billg22. Bill works for the LA Kings hockey team. Our discussion surrounded meeting up at his place when the Stanley cup would be there. I wouldn't be in town (taking kidlet to university) but was able to send brother in law and family. True kings fans they are. Anyway, I learned Bill goes to the Searcher's meetings too. That was the added incentive I needed to go! So I went. They had lots of folks there. The club is quite active with a workshop, monthly field trips and interesting speakers every month. Last night the speaker was a gentleman that owns a shop (I know not which type) and his work causes him to study diamonds. He spoke in terrific detail about colored diamonds. Subtopics of diamond marketplace, diamond formation and other ancillary topics were touched on too. Who knew purple diamonds were colored by hydrogen and crystal lattice deformation?? Hell, I didn't even know they had purple diamonds! Anyway, it was good to see Bill and Dan again. The club is awesome, can't make clear creek field trip in a week and a half! but Chuckwalla Mtns seems good to go in November. If you live on SoCal - I encourage you to go. I had a great time. You will too. Bill raised $1700 for charity at his Stanley Cup event!!! Woot!!

It's a brutal trip from Ventura County. That much time and distance on the 405 is cruel and unusual punishment. It's really unfortunate (IMO) that most of the big shows and other gem attractions are located in the Anaheim area. The only show I attend with some regularity is in Santa Monica.

Dan I know Clear Creek is epic. But I already had plans.
Do you know the date for the Corn Springs trip?
