Sometimes the internet is so confusing. I had read on a couple of sites that plasma agate was green jasper with yellow, a counterpart to bloodstone being green jasper with red. OK, I can understand that. I just did an image search and find so many things being sold as plasma agate... I am at a loss to see what some of those images have in common. Going to keep working on it and hopefully the light will go on in my struggling little brain. Somebody/everybody help define this for me please? Photos would be great. Thanks for your time and trouble.

I found a small bit of information(not much)... Plasma Agate Cabochon comes from Clear Creek, California. It was collected on Federal land that has been closed to collecting making the good quality Plasma Agate very hard to find. Not much information out there on the stuff.....I only found this so far.... Quote" This material is an odd mixture of both agate and jasper swirled together" Quote.... I'm sure there are a few people on here that can relate to the subject and help you out with answers "D"...

Well it is a location stone - not a color pattern. "Plasma agate is a fairly rare material found in the Clear Creek area of Central California." SOme people say there is aspestos in the area, but I have never read a clear statement on whether there is any in plasma agate. So if not from that area, and not an agate, it is not plasma agate. I guess you could describe a rock's color and pattern as similar to plasma agate. Bloodstone is really a jasper. The green/bluish parts of plasma agate are often translucent, (i.e., agate), so not like bloodstone. While it varies in how much black it has, and whether the overall tone is green or blue, and sometime the bluer ones or more opaque, I find the pictures very distinctive. See Beefjello's thread forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/23285and here are some pieces I cut:
