My Genie is 12 years old. The press board base warped, probably from using the trim saw attachment which can overfoam and get everything wet. I ended up putting the base on bricks to keep it dry. I bought a genie plywood base 4 years ago for $74 and I haven't got around to swapping the base out. None of the plastic parts have cracked and the hoods and trays get handled a lot. There seems to be strong sentiment here about using clean water and cross contamination. For my Genie and stardiamond machine, I use recirculated water with the water in a genie tray. I change water when I go from cutting to sanding to polishing. Contamination has never been an issue. I can place as many heads as I want under a wheel. I would expect a well taken care of Genie would have the best resale value.
The biggest issue for me when choosing a cabbing machine is wheel size. If you cut on 8" wheels you won't go back to 6" wheels. I use my Genie for the trim saw, 3000, 14000 grits and the polishing pad. I have used it a little recently for cutting because the wheels are newer than my 8" wheels on the stardiamond. I use what ever cuts faster. I finally have 5 new 8" wheels for my stardiamond machine and will be swapping them out. No DP wheels. 2 hard wheels from jadecarver and 3 soft wheels from johnsonbrothers. The wheels on the machine still have plenty of life left and I won't toss them, but nothing cuts like new wheels.

i will be going with the all aluminum machine from Sphere Products suggested by Rockoonz. Have you taken a look at that machine? All aluminum and self contained (no baseboard), Loc-Line water delivery, can accept 6" or 8" wheels, has a drain. Im really impressed with the machine and after talking with the owner im sold. Looks like a well thought out, solid choice! Congrats and, (of course!) we're gonna want pictures and a review when you get it. This has been a great thread and I'm glad you asked the questions you did. Thanks for the information on what looks like a good machine.

i have two genies and a highland park 8" both work great i think that you would be happy with either a genie or a cabking both are good machines the cabking is cheaper uses fresh water but it slings the water the genie uses a gyser and dosnt spray all over but your always changing out the water in the pans ! The cab king has various flow control knobs to not spray water everywhere right? Overhead is a little more messy just because you can put dowm as much water as you want but i don't have too much of a problem with mine.

I use my 8 inch wheels more but there are times that 6 inch wheels are better, especially if you like to cut freeform cabs with inside curves.

glennz01 i have already decided against the Graves machine. I dont like that type of water delivery system. Seems to be alot of potential for cross contamination of the wheels and i really dont want to buy a machine that uses alot of plastic. I've decided to spend a little more and go with an all metal machine. roy the Genie is just more than i want to spend on a machine that i hear mixed opinions about. I've heard that the plastic can crack over time and the baseboard sags and i'd like to avoid those issues. i will be going with the all aluminum machine from Sphere Products suggested by Rockoonz.
