Nice . First pictures ,the unakite granites are beautiful . i see a few more with possibilities . ive already cut the red and black striped one . i will get a pic on . Do you have a rock book? i find them to be more helpful than the net sometimes . i think you have a couple calc-silicate marbles in there . a good read on them in the Audubon book, not much on the net , they are rare and small specimens, you probably wont see many the size to make countertops or tables out of .

mike, they have a giant pink quartz chunk hollowed out and lighted at the local thrift store. They told me they could have sold it a hundred times over... not for sale. I do keep looking, the best I have found besides that lamp so far is a broken jade picture frame for a dollar... didn't buy it. I keep looking!

Tandl, yes, I have several, 2 on Michigan rocks, one on gemstones, one which covers most other rocks and minerals... and I have put a few more on my list for Santa... I agree, sometimes the books give more complete descriptions and more concise illustrations. I refer to mine often. (thank you) will have to look up calc-sil... wouldn't surprise me. if that is calcium and silicate... I think the limestone and the fossils here make those two minerals abundant in this area... thanks for the heads up!
