I picked up the slab for this one at a recent show. It is getting harder to find good rough and slabs but it can be done. This Brazilian Agate cab is 4" across. Bob

Yes, I keep them all for my display case. Obviously they won't all fit so I rotate them for each show that I display them in. It reduces the boredom people would have from seeing the same thing all over again. Someday I will probably start selling/donating/giving them away. Many years down the road I hope. Starting in the January issue of Rock and Gem Magazine there will be a full page article each month on how to make the large ones. Bob

Dave, Here is a side view of the girdle. Most of the time I cut the cab with a slightly tilted in straight side. On this cab the slab was rather thin so I didn't get a large dome. On this one the overall height of the cab is .198" (5.04 mm) and the girdle height is .140" (3.78mm). Bob

That is a real beauty! I always have trouble finding good slabs without fractures to work around. This is a great one! Fran

Besides the beauty of the cab, I am amazed - as always when looking at your large cabs - by the flawless dome. Telescope mirrors might be less precise than your domes. Hat off.

That is an amazing size; and sooooo thin! The stone is great, but the skill behind it is inspiring.
