I finally finished up a couple of cabs from meh stone as far as the world goes but they turned out pretty nice. I have no clue what they are and unless someone recognizes them from duplicates from somewhere else on the planet. They are just local rock that most people wouldn't even look at twice. In fact some of the rocks like this get tossed, picked up, tossed again, looked at again then one day I will think "maybe I should cut this before I wear it out from picking it up". The results. Not sure what happened but somehow there were a couple that did not get photographed so they will have to come later, or never, hard to tell with me. Leopard stone. The black is chatoyant like feldspar so that narrows it down to something black and yellow/orange. Lightning bolt. Picture jasper maybe. Some of these have been shown before a long time ago but I thought they would fit in here. Brecciated something white. Duh. Duh 2 Duh 3 Guitar stone from wampidy sunrise. Other than living out in the sticks (not all bad) it is great to be somewhere that I can pick up just about any type of weird stone and make something out of it. Most people go out looking for one or two types of stone and I get to look for almost an infinite number of different stones. So, all you single ladies that like rocks come on up, or down, or over and we will try to find some good rocks for you. PS Bring a really good pick/axe because we are going to have to chip them out of frozen ground. PSS My bad, all of ya'll are welcome too but you will have to find your own accommodations unless you can sleep in a chair or on the floor. Or maybe a couch in the big house. Hell, just come by and we will figure out something. lol Jim

Now that I'm in Colorado, I'm gonna have to take you up on that offer. When the ground thaws. Sadly for you, I'm not a lovely lady! But I can be funny!

Duh #3 does it for me! They are all cool, and I agree, living someplace where you can find such variety of good usable rocks is rock picker heaven named types or not. I'm that lucky too, and I wouldn't trade it! Don't forget to post the rest of them, I look forward to your posts!

Lots of interesting gems there Jim. The first piece looks like a pink(felspar) granite mined here in Georgia with heavy black mica. Some of the granites here will knock your socks off. 50% of the nations tomb stones are mined and made in Elberton Georgia. Granite tiles and buiding facia are some fine material. White granite with black tourmaline needles-wow. The many colors/sizes of felspar crystals. Many varieties.
The other cabs are just cool. Keep em coming.

I've cabbed local rocks and given them to delighted local folks! Most of the time I call them Havasu Desert Jasper or Havasu Rock LOL
